I was looking at images of moons on NASA’s website and learned that there are over 200 moons in our solar system. This made Earth’s moon seem unexceptional and decentred the perspective from Earth. I was thinking about our moon as a site of cultural projection of human thought- how we see ourselves and our place in the universe. The subtitles grew from my research of superstitions, outdated scientific observations, and other beliefs about the moon. The first image is our moon and the following images are photos of moons of planets moving outward, further and further away from Earth, across our solar system.
