The images in this video are satellite photos of the Thwaites Glacier, also known as the “Doomsday Glacier”, from the 1980s - the 2020s.

The subtitles describe the microscopic movement of heat moving from a hand into the surface of a cave wall or a window, connecting human history and the small scale world of the individual to the global scale of the collective human impact on the environment.

The Thwaites Glacier is part of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet and is Antarctica’s most unstable glacier. It’s collapse would raise global sea levels by 65cm.
